Embracing ‘Active Heritage’, our Society is run by volunteers from a beautiful historic building, Heritage House, which was built in 1904 and is located in the heart of the Mends Street 'heritage precinct'. Browse our pages to get a better understanding of what we are up to and have to offer, or download our brochure.
Looking for some local heritage sites to visit?
Check out the relevant pages using the ‘Local History' menu. Better still, visit us at Heritage House to view our Local History Gallery and the May Gibbs and Herbert Gibbs Art Museum.
Plus, our Gift Shop is well stocked with books on local history, May Gibbs' Gumnut stories and more.
We're open on Fridays from 10am-4pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 - 4pm and our address is 111 Mill Point Road (corner Mends Street) South Perth - opposite the historic Windsor Hotel.
Stories at the Ferry Tram
We are delighted to work with the City of South Perth Library on this community event series, specially designed to enthral the younger tram drivers among us. The stories are told in the beautifully restored Ferry Tram B15 in the Tram Barn adjacent to Heritage House.
Please join us 10:30 - 12:30 on the last Friday of each month. Schedule and booking info can be found at the City of South Perth Library's page.
Find out more about the tram restoration project that took many years to complete as well as the Tram Barn that was built to house and protect B15.
